Dancing With the Stars 2013: Prom Night

Teens Zendaya Coleman and Aly Raisman are around the right age for Prom Night. The other celebs of Dancing With the Stars Season 16? Not so much. But they’ll either get to relive the memories or have the night they always wanted on Week 3.

Executive producer Conrad Green told TV Guide “themes” will be returning this season. Week 3 — which is usually Personal Story Week, or some variation — will be Prom Night, inspired by the stars’s own proms. Fans will also reportedly be able to vote for Prom King and Queen (and we can already see it going to Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough. It just feels… inevitable).

“Maybe the celebrities will do some version of their prom outfits,” Conrad told TV Guide with a laugh. “There will probably be some campy music. We’re looking at some other special performance nights. One will probably be Latin. We’ll do The Best Year of Your Life Week. It’s small tweaks like that that are vital. Nothing radical.” Conrad said “the more outlandish stuff probably won’t be back,” this season, including some of the bizarre hybrid dances unique to All-Stars. However, “The picking [dances] for each other will be. I don’t think there’s an issue with that.” No, it was fun to see the dancers choose styles for each other, and it gave the Results Shows some purpose other than for musical performances.

The producer said we’re going “back to basics” this season, with a freshness and innocence. Kind of like prom night! Unless you had that kind of prom night. Hey, if we’re Dorothy Hamill at prom with Tristan MacManus, we’re hoping it’s that kind of prom again!

What do you think of this prom idea? Who should be king and queen?
